Research
Prof. Hongchao Xie explores new physical phenomena in two-dimensional (2D) quantum materials and their potential application in next-generation devices using optical microscopy/spectroscopy and nanoelectromechanical system (NEMS) platform, and has made a list of achievements: 1) experimentally identified signatures of a new magnetic ground state in twist 2D magnets that absent from natural 2D magnets; 2) experimentally observed exchange-driven magnetostriction in 2D antiferromagnets and developed its application in ultra-sensitive detection; 3) experimentally realized the tunable exciton-optomechanical coupling in 2D semiconductor-based resonators; 4) experimentally observed valley-selective exciton bistability and realized its polarization modulation in a suspended 2D semiconductor.
So far, he has published 10 SCI papers and 4 papers as the first(co-first) author in high-profile journals, including Nature Physics (1), Nature Materials (1) and Nano Letters (2).
Research Interests
Spatially-resolved and temporally-resolved spectroscopy and microscopy for systematical studies on 2D moiré superlattices and devices, and their applications in NEMS, with particular interest in magnetic and correlated electronic quantum states of matter.
