From July 26th to 28th 2015, under the guidance of Prof. HUANG Yan, Prof. ZHANG Dinghua and Ms. PENG Ying, 18 graduate students of the School of Public Administration (SPA) went on a visit to Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) for the academic exchange. It is reported that the historical roots of the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) can be traced back to 1853 when the first formalised programme of in-service teacher training was introduced in St Paul’s College and 1881 when the first Government Normal School was established by the then Governor of Hong Kong, John Pope Hennessy, in Wan Chai.
During the three-day academic visit, the delegation of SPA-SCUT experienced a warm reception and generous hospitality of HKIEd. Through the face to face interaction with teachers and students of HKIEd and the international experts and scholars, everyone left with a profound impression from their teaching accomplishments and rigorous scholarly spirit. This greatly expanded the research route, broadened the international perspective and enhanced the academic level of the visiting teachers and students of SPA. Meanwhile, this visit strengthened the meaningful exchange and partnership relationship between SPA and HKIEd.
