Abstract:
Physics is a kind of natural science. It is the study of matter and its motion through space and time. The theoretical breakthroughs of physics provide solid ground to advance new materials technique. In this talk, the application in physics in developing new materials technology at The Hong Kong university of Science and Technology will be introduced, including the application of quantum mechanics in developing model structure of the concrete hydration products, application of wave refraction theory in developing reflective inorganic heat insulation coating materials, application of heat insulation theory in developing the structural-functional wall panel with phase-change material, application of the mass law in developing sound shielding composites, application of the piezoelectricity in developing cement-based piezoelectric transducers, application of electromagnetic theory in developing non-contact resistivity (impedance) measurement methods and application of buoyancy in developing innovative wind power generating system.
