Recently, it is reported that Professor Wu has been successfully elected as the distinguished talent of the Special Support Plan for Cultivating High Quality Professionals (the SSPCHQP), among which 34 professors from SCUT were elected including 2 distinguished talents, 11 pioneer talents and 21 outstanding innovative sci-tech young talents.
It is acknowledged that the SSPCHQP is an important talents cultivation project established by Guangdong Province to support extraordinary professors from fields of natural science, engineering technology and philosophy and social science, which are also cultivated for the national SSPCHQP. The SSPCHQP of Guangdong province has 3 levels consisting of 9 kinds of talents. The first level is the distinguished talents; the second is the pioneer talents including innovative socio-tech pioneer talents, pioneer talents in business establishment with technology, pioneer in culture promotion, brilliant teachers and pioneer engineer; the last is the outstanding young talents including outstanding innovative sci-tech young talents, outstanding young engineers and outstanding young culture talents.
