To strengthen the exchange of structural mechanics teaching experience between universities in mid-south regions of China and improve teaching quality, the 5th Structural Mechanics Competition was held on May 23rd, 2015. The competition was co-hosted by the following universities and organization: SCUT, Guangdong society of theoretical and applied mechanics, Wuhan University, Hunan University, Guangxi University, Guangzhou University, Zhengzhou University, Fuzhou University and Hainan University. There were altogether more than 2000 students participating in this competition and 271 students won awards which included 1 special prize、28 first prizes、53 second prizes、128 third prizes and 61 excellent prizes. 370 students from 15 universities in Guangdong province attended this completion and 51 students from 9 universities won awards which included 1 special prize、6 first prizes、9 second prizes、25 third prizes and 10 excellent prizes. 48 students from SCET of SCUT engaged in the competition and 12 students won awards.
