On December 3, Bugrov Dmitry, the first vice president of Ural Federal University (UrFU), visited SCUT, and Zhu Min, the vice president of SEC, met the guests at the Higher Education Mega Center Mega. Ma Ning, the deputy director of the International Office, Jiang Jinbo, the deputy dean of the SEC, and Bi Doudou, the head of the Tourism Department, attended the meeting.
Vice President Zhu briefly introduced the history of the school and the development of the three campus of the university. He said that 2019 would be the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. Yekaterinburg and Guangzhou are sister cities. UrFU and SCUT are both chairmen of 2017-2019 Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU). He suggested that the two universities shall take this opportunity to strengthen cooperation, especially in tourism and hotel management. Establishing joint research centers to promote scientific research cooperation, and advancing exchange among students through workshops.
Bugrov Dmitry gave a brief introduction to the UrFU and Yekaterinburg. He said that he will further the cooperation in tourism and hotel management in addition to traditional cooperation in engineering. And he invited colleagues in SCUT to attend the international seminar of tourism management in UrUF in 2019.
Jiang Jinbo introduced SEC and pinpointed that the school made rapid progress in talent training, scientific research and discipline construction with applied economics as the leader. The deppartment of tourism management has accumulated rich experiences in training talents through international cooperation, gradually showing distinctive characteristics of running a school. He hoped that the two sides can jointly build research bases, conduct joint training of students, exchange visits among teachers and so forth, building a comprehensive and sustainable partnership.
UrFU is one of Russia's top ten famous polytechnics. In addition to its traditional specialty in engineering, the school has a good performance in the fields of humanities, social sciences and economics. UrFU and SCUT signed undergraduate and postgraduate exchange programs in 2016, and the school leaders of UrFU also had visited SCUT many times.
